Colorado Springs Master Planned CommunityOver twenty years ago, the owners of this land stood here looking at the Rocky Mountains and had the vision of creating a community where quality of life comes first. They envisioned a safe, pleasant, family-oriented community that offers top quality housing, the most progressive education available, easy access to recreational opportunities, numerous retail, professional, medical and family entertainment centers and employment all within a short walk or drive.
The Briargate VisionBriargate has become one of largest and fastest growing areas in the northeast section of Colorado Springs, encompassing more than 9,600 acres and establishing itself as one of the most viable residential areas in our community.
Since 1995, both Briargate and Pine Creek were brought to fruition through the Master Planned Community Developer, La Plata Communities. Pine Creek was the first community in Colorado Springs to require builders to design and build their new homes in accordance with strict design guidelines and distinct architectural styles, including Prairie, Craftsman, European Cottage and Spanish Eclectic.
From Briargate to the Pine Creek residential communities and the Briargate Business Campus; Briargate welcomes its newest amenity rich residential community - Cordera. Part of the original Briargate Master Plan, annexed to the City of Colorado Springs in 1982, Cordera represents the third major residential phase of Briargate project build-out. Cordera is a new community that truly epitomizes the Colorado Springs lifestyle with spectacular views of the Black Forest and Pikes Peak and equally spectacular homes from Colorado’s finest homebuilders. There is also an extensive 4.5 mile inter-linking trail system, four wonderfully-themed neighborhood parks, and an amenity-packed Community Center that features a pool and splash area. Plus, Cordera is nearby The Promenade Shops at Briargate and within the highly-acclaimed Academy School District 20.
Over the past 25 years, the Briargate developers have contributed significant public improvements for the benefit of not only Briargate residents, but for the entire community as a whole. As part of the Briargate annexation agreement, over 120 lane miles of arterial streets have been constructed including: Briargate Parkway; Union Boulevard, Austin Bluffs Parkway and Lexington Drive north of Woodmen; Briargate Boulevard; Chapel Hills Drive, Research Parkway and of course Powers Boulevard from Woodmen Road to Briargate Parkway. A pedestrian underpass has also been built in Cordera to maximize safety and convenience. In addition to streets, significant storm water drainage and major utilities have been constructed and granted to the City.
Briargate is home to a myriad of activities that promote recreation, worship, shopping, dining and learning including the Challenger Learning Center, the only one in the state of Colorado. Recreational activities in Briargate include the Briargate Family YMCA, the highly-rated Pine Creek Golf Course, The Promenade Shops at Briargate, and a skate board park as well as parks which feature picnic tables, tot-lots and multi-use basketball/in-line hockey courts. People live in Colorado because of the quality of life, and Briargate is Colorado living at its best.
